About this project

Hilton Head Lens is a simple idea: take one local photographer's archive — built up over years of shooting Hilton Head Island, Bluffton, and the Lowcountry — and give it a home of its own.

Most of these photos first appeared on Google Maps, where they've quietly been seen hundreds of millions of times by people planning trips, checking out golf courses, or just curious about a place. This site gathers the best of them into spot pages: the photos, a few honest lines, and a link to the map. Nothing more, nothing stock.

The site is starting small on purpose — a handful of hand-finished spots first, growing only when each new page is worth adding. Bluffton gets its own full section alongside Hilton Head, because half the archive lives there.

Spots further afield — Savannah, and trips beyond — live in a small Field Trips corner, kept separate from the hometown pages.
